The sensory system consists of the most advanced and reliable sensors. We believe that reliable autonomous systems need to use state of the art sensory systems to ensure the machine’s long term future operations. The machine uses Inertial Motion Unit (IMU), LIDAR, cameras, and General Positioning System (GPS) for environmental detection of the ADAM-0 system. The base control interfaces, programable logical controllers and advanced industrial computer presents the brain and logic of the ADAM-0 system. Additionally, we have implemented visual, audio, temperature and humidity sensors. Most importantly, we installed safety systems used for obstacle detection and emergency stopping in case of unpredicted obstacles and an innovative spraying system with energy regeneration beside the UV radiation.
MOTIVATION
The wide shortage of human labour and questionable use of phyto-pharmaceuticals is pushing technology towards more autonomous operations while autonomous machines are currently underdeveloped in the agriculture industry. We believe that one of the main factors is the complexity of natural environments. So, we decided to take this challenge and developed an autonomous “tractor” machine for the repeating operations in row crops. We focused specially on tasks such as spraying and UV radiation, which are the simplest operations for row crops.
GOAL
Our goal is to build a control and sensory system which can be associated with different terrain traversing mobile bases. The remote-controlled machines can be driven by electricity or with an internal combustion engine but our choice is electricity – zero emissions.
AUTONOMOUS
Autonomous machine that operates on its own with no direct operator interactions determine the main goal of ADAM-0.
DIVERSE
Diversity is one of the most desirable properties in agriculture, which ADAM-0 can offer.
AGRICULTURE
Agriculture is the backbone of our civilisation where we see ADAM-0 as one of the first commercially available solutions.
